Dr Joanna Hayes (BDS): Orthodontic Auxiliary
A practising dental surgeon, Jo has extensive experience as an orthodontic auxilary both in New Zealand and overseas. Jo assists Darnell and Mike with adjustments, removing braces, (debands), and Invisalign. While she lives in the Wairarapa, Jo works predominantly in Courtenay Orthodontics/The Orthodontist’s Wellington and Lower Hutt practices.
Cindy O’Leary: Orthodontic Assistant
Cindy originally worked as our orthodontic assistant in our original Kapiti Coast branch. When she moved to Wellington around 2010 she joined Courtenay Orthodontics full-time and now works chair-side at our Wellington practice.
Linda O’Neill: Orthodontic Assistant
‘English Rose’ Linda joined the practice around 2005. She works part-time in the Wellington and Lower Hutt practices. Linda keeps the team and patients entertained with stories from ‘Ol Blighty’.
Uschi Behling: Orthodontic Assistant (Masterton)
Uschi has worked with Darnell and Michael in Masterton since 2007. Born in Germany Uschi visited New Zealand in her 20s and has been here ever since. She lives in Masterton and enjoys regular tramps in the neighbouring ranges, and yoga.
Twyla Moran: Orthodontic Assistant
Hailing from Portsmouth, UK, Twyla now calls New Zealand home. She joined Courtenay Orthodontics (part of The Orthodontist group) in September 2020 having moved to Wellington from the Hawke’s Bay. Twyla has a background in the health sector with previous roles in general dentistry and optometry. Outside of work, Twyla can be found exploring Wellington’s outdoors with her husband and two cherished beagles.

Crystal Rolfe: Practice Manager
Our Practice Manager (and chief organiser), Crystal joined Courtenay Orthodontics (part of The Orthodontist group) in August 2020. She has a strong background in the dental and orthodontic industry having first worked as a dental assistant in a few private practice before moving behind the scenes at a dental supplier, where she was in charge of coordinating sales of a wide range of New Zealand’s supply of dental equipment. She is also an avid photographer and dab hand at InDesign and PhotoShop. Outside of work, Crystal enjoys exploring New Zealand taking photos, playing strategic boardgames and spending time with her family and friends.
Sophia Tyndall: Front-of-house
Sophia is the first person you will likely come in contact with at Courtenay Orthodontics as our amazing front-of-house. You might be able to gather from her cheery voice when answering your call, that she is American-born. She loves singing, kickboxing, and long walks on the beach.
